Day 5: A prank you think you could pull off on Nino.

Whether or not I could pull this off is irrelevant. I probably couldn't. BUT. It would be awesome.

Necessary tangent: My first ever dream related to Arashi (though admittedly I've had very few of these) was about Nino and me being on some dumb gameshow in Japan. Besides the two of us, it was maybe twenty other people on a huge set literally running around, dodging piles of whipped cream. yeah. So in this dream, Nino suddenly shoved me face first into a pile of said whipped cream, and all hell broke loose as everyone else began throwing each other, causing a huge mess and extreme anxiety to the set builders.

Back to the prank. It is LITERALLY MY DREAM to have my ... revenge (lol) on Nino and pie him in the face. Several times. I would plan this really carefully, coordinating with the managers, his friends, Arashi, everyone to make it either on his birthday or another important date. Preferably during some kind of live performance. I would persuade, cajole, bribe, and beg anyone and everyone to just walk up to Nino and throw a pie in his face. And when he demanded who the hell came up with this retarded idea, everyone would just shrug doubtfully and look around at each other like they didn't know. And everything would be beautiful and right in the world and I would die of laughter. Thank you.

Day 4: Your favorite and least favorite pairings and why. This does not have to be limited to slash!

Favorite: Ohmiya. There are so many reasons. It’s pretty easy to see that they have a connection whenever they’re together on TV or anywhere. Whether or not that connection is borne from Nino’s need to touch Ohno’s butt has yet to be fully determined. To me, not just in concerts but in making of’s and the TV shows they have the best, funniest, and cutest interactions. I LIKE THIS PAIRING BECAUSE OF REASONS.

Least Favorite: Juntoshi. I actually only dislike them as a romantic pairing. Basically any slash pairing in fics that doesn’t have to do with Nino or Ohno doesn’t interest me, so I was pretty prejudiced against Juntoshi from the get-go. BUT I love their friendship. So much. They always fool around, especially at concerts, and there are many adorable Juntoshi pics floating around the shops in Harajuku. So I guess I don’t actually dislike Juntoshi, but all other pairings except maybe Sakuraiba I don’t really think much about. xD

Also: YAYAYAY finally the new Arashi DVD release has been announced!! PLUS a new single~ It's so funny I asked Katie to keep me updated if there was any Arashi news while my grandparents were here, since I haven't been on the computer too much, but she was sitting right next to me when she found out. xD

Day 3: You are stranded on a deserted island with Arashi. Who gets eaten first and why?

Ohno of course is a keep. He has the fishing skills and a rather impressive set of muscles; heavy lifting and food provider it is. Would probably be able to imitate various animals well enough to lure whatever we're hunting into a false sense of security so we can kill them easily. Not to mention that if the random-ass bear from the HanaDan movie showed up, his most urgent reaction would probably be "... Oh." Minuses: would be content with fishing all day and nothing else. Group would waste energy trying to get him to do other work.

Aiba I feel would be useful. He'd probably waste a lot of valuable energy flailing about and generally making a mess of things, but then again so would I. When discussing the pecking order as a group, he'd make a dumb comment like "Well we have to keep Corina in order to repopulate the earth," and while Jun's retort that that makes no sense would be absolutely correct, I'd avidly agree with Aiba and we would be allies for the rest of our island exile. Pluses: can talk to animals, has some decent cooking skills, has successfully created fire. Would probably take on any new challenge with energy and excitement.
I'd like to imagine that I would make it onto the "Keep around, at least for now," list. I can cook, some. I can certainly manage a piece of fish over fire. I can lift, some. I've had a lot of practice lugging Omiyage back and forth between my host family and my family-family. Desire to live would most definitely up my willingness to perform any necessary task. I'm really good tree names, both regular and scientific classification; hopefully I could use this knowledge to trick everyone into thinking I know about plants and therefore am invaluable to the group.

Jun would be resourceful. He'd come up with a bunch of ideas to help us survive, like ways to collect water and store food so other animals don't get to them. He'd attempt to build our new home, though everything he did would probably take several tries, thus wasting resources. When things don't work out he'd probably waste a lot of time huffing and puffing as well. Hmmm... MatsuJun, you're in a bit of danger at the moment.

Next we have Nino. I dont see him being terribly useful at much. He'd manage to turn us all against each other, make us feel sorry for him and do his share of the work, and probably be the deciding factor in all of our deaths. But let's be honest. He's cunning, he's smart, and adorable. He'd probably come up with a bunch of ideas we need in order to survive, and charm us into all forgetting that we should probably kill him.

Sho. Oh, Sho. He's potentially the most useful in helping us survive. He brought all his cellphones -- but wait, there's no signal and the batteries quickly die. He has all these survival manuals that he bought for leisurely reading -- but wait, they're on his bedside table back home. He's met all these super buff Olympic athletes -- but wait, how is that useful? He's interviewed tens of people -- oh oh that one person this one time said that if you need to gut an animal you should -- but he can't remember. He'd eagerly try to help Ohno fish, but would chatter so much they'd all be scared away. He'd help MatsJun make the new house, but he'd stumble and break the framing, making Jun stomp off in a hissy-fit while Nino sat back and laughed. He'd try to help me cook, but I'd shoo him away before he even got close to the fire. The last straw would be when he accidentally tramples Aiba's baby pet bird when running away from the rabbit that hopped out of the bushes. Nino would slyly point out to the rest of us that all those fake muscles would probably be tasty, and then we would all jump him.

Looks like Sho's out on this one, guys. It couldn't be helped.

Day 2: Talk about a friend (or friends) you have made because of Arashi.
Katie ([personal profile] hontowa )isn't really aware of this but the beginning of my friendship with her was probably one of the most awkward in my life. I was working on the Arashidex with Vanessa, and I totally don't remember why but we needed information from Katie and/or help on the site. At first the interactions were Vanessa/Katie, but I saw pretty quickly that Katie was hilarious to talk to and forced Vanessa to introduce us. Ahaha I pretty much shoved myself into a friendship with her, and I didn't tell her until this past September. Ahahahaha <3
I'm just so thankful that I became friends with Katie, not only because we have so many coinciding interests other than Arashi, but also because we can talk about pretty much anything. Flailing, making fun of artists we don't like, talking about our real life, everything. I look up to her. And even though I'm here studying abroad in Japan, she's been an incredible resource and support. Back in August we both worried that our friendship would be affected by the distance, but ... I think we talk MORE than we used to. And to me that's amazing... instead of letting distance get in-between us, we acknowledged it and became even closer. <3
Today's challenge is making me all warm and fuzzy inside because I'm seeing people talk about wonderful friendships created and maintained because of Arashi. It reminds me that this fandom is pretty amazing, and that people that live across the world from each other can be the best of friends. Also after reading Katie's post it was heart-warming to realize that our friendship means just as much to her as it does to me.
I'd also like to give a mini shout-out to Jamie, who doesn't even know this meme exists. xD I met her in college in Japanese Linguistics, and somehow we found out that were both Arashi fans and going to study abroad in Tokyo at the same time. Thanks to her I've had an INCREDIBLE Arashi-filled study abroad. We went to an Arashi ni Shiyagare filming together, and managed to get tickets at the Nagoya concert in January. I never would have had the nerve to do any of it on my own. xD

========================
Curious as to what my lie was in yesterday's challenge?
I was never really a huge fan of Oguri Shun. When I was getting into J-Dramas, I was definitely interested and thought his role in Stand Up was hilarious, but after watching Hana Kimi, I was infatuated with Ikuta Toma. I wanted to watch all of his dramas forever, but unfortunately at the time he didn't have a huge available repertoire. I settled for chasing after Oguri Shun's dramas, and couldn't wait to get to the second season of Hanadan so I could see Toma's like... 1 episode appearance. haha. And then he turned out to be a bad character and I was upset. ahaha.

Day 1: Tell the story of how you came to be a fan of Arashi. Include one lie in your story and see if people can guess which part is the lie.

So this is how it happened. I used to be into UVERworld, a lot. Unfortunately as time passed drama and the disappearance of my friend Vanessa from the fandom caused me to drift away from UVER, and I needed happiness, fuzziness, and rainbows.

I turned to Japanese Dramas! For whatever reason I watched Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, became utterly obsessed with Oguri Shun, and began tearing through his dramas. Stand Up happened, HanaDan happened. I thought Nino was adorable and MatsuJun pretty hilarious, though I didn't know their names and didn't care to learn. Sometime during the watching of these shows, Vanessa, who at the time had disappeared from my life, suddenly reappeared via text message while I was making ice cream for extra credit in my Honors Chem class.

She told me that there was this group Arashi, and she was pretty into them. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that I had already been exposed to 2 out of 5 of these members, and became more and more interested in Johnny's. Around the same time my English teacher assigned us an essay and ordered us to talk about something that made us happy. Since Johnny's was a little broad, I narrowed it down to Arashi so that I could interview Vanessa, which basically kicked me into the Arashi fandom; I was exposed to D no Arashi and the song Step and Go (which came out right at this time) and suddenly I was a fan. xD

Anybody think they caught the lie?? Feel free to leave a guess!
